Data Centre Support Engineer

Working in a stimulating environment, as a Data Centre Support Engineer, you’ll have the chance to develop and learn new skills. We offer an extensive in-house training as well as assistance with exams/qualifications, purchase of relevant literature and a bonus for each qualification obtained.
Principal tasks
- Covering the company’s data centres across Guildford and the surrounding area
- Helping with server setup/ configuration and support
- Installing immaculate cabling and labelling
- Server rack wiring, hard disk swaps, physical server installs, lifting servers and asset management
- Keeping the data centre organised and efficient
- Troubleshooting physical problems and addressing issues within the facility
- Working on trouble tickets
- Problem diagnosis and resolution
Minimum Requirements
- Good knowledge of PC and Server Hardware
- Be hugely passionate about technology
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Due to the nature of the position, the ability to lift at least 15kg (33lb)
- Logical approach and good communication skills
- Be willing to work overtime when required

Python Software Developer

We have a comprehensive suite of in-house developed systems, mostly Linux-based using Python, Django and MySQL, which automate many of the business processes. We can offer a dynamic environment in which to progress your career and practise agile development with continuous integration.
Principal tasks
- You will have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting new projects and help with the maintenance of many of the existing systems.
- You will join a small development team, reporting directly to the technical director. As such, you should be happy working on your own without excessive supervision.
Minimum Requirements
- At a minimum, a 2.1 degree in science, technology, engineering or maths
- Programming experience
- Able to demonstrate fluency in Python, preferably in a non-trivial project

Junior Systems Administrator

An excellent environment for a budding systems administrator to develop their skills and gain experience with many new technologies. We manage both Linux and Windows environments, so experience with both is preferred.
Principal Tasks
- Providing email and phone based technical support to direct customers
- Provisioning and setup of servers and network equipment
- Asset management
- 24/7 on call one week in five (with compensation)
- Troubleshooting hardware/network/software problems and liaising with vendors
Minimum Requirements
- 2:1 degree in science, technology, engineering or maths or able to demonstrate relevant IT experience
- Enthusiasm for computers
- Some demonstrable experience of at least hobbyist systems administration
- Good problem solving abilities
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Permanent right to work in the UK
Highly Desirable
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking and internet protocols
- Relevant qualifications e.g. MCSE/LPI/RHCT/RHCE
- Full UK driving license
