As with any successful, growing organisation there are some key people at the top who make it what it is, and we would like to introduce them to you.
Kate Craig-Wood, Managing Director
Kate has long been involved in Information Technology & business, and has core technical skills in e-Commerce systems development. Although initially a Web developer for MBA Systems Ltd., after obtaining her Masters Degree in Biomedical Science she started her career in Management Consulting with Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. She soon moved to Easyspace Ltd, the UK's first ICANN Accredited domain Registrar and the biggest domain registration & hosting provider of the time. Her role within Easyspace rapidly expanded from head of eCommerce development to business development manager and beyond. By mid-2002 she had gained extensive expertise in the Internet hosting sector and branched out to found Memset® with her brother, Nick.
Since then Kate has recieved wide accolade and awards for entrepreneurship. Today, Kate is also a leading figure in the UK technology industry, and helps represent the IT sector through her position as main board member of Intellect UK, Britan's high-tech trade association.
Nick Craig-Wood, Technical Director
After collecting his Masters Degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, Nick took his deep mathematical & IT skills to the communications sector and gained specialisms in cryptography and compression algorithms. Since then he co-founded Alphawave Ltd. which specialises in Satellite Communications control and monitoring software. He has always been an active member of the Linux & Open Source communities and is expert in Linux systems administration and network communications as well as being an unusually highly skilled developer in many programming languages. He honed his expertise in the Web Hosting industry during his time as CTO of Easyspace Ltd. before moving on to co-found Memset®. Nick's deep technical skills are invaluable to Memset® and he has been the key driver behind the development of our Miniserver VM® virtualisation technology.
Alex Coke-Smyth, Operations Manager
Following obtaining his degree, Alex moved immediately into professional Linux systems administration. Over the last several years he has been responsible for a range of system architectures, with a specific focus on Internet Presence Provision. In more recent years he has become expert in Internet security and the challenges therein. He now oversees the systems supporting our 1,000-odd servers with his small team, and his deep networking, security and systems management skills are invaluable to the company.
Nathan Johnston, Sales Manager
Nathan finished his degree in 1995 and has been working in IT sales since 1997. He has worked at many software companies including Information Advantage, Sterling Software and Computer Associates where he worked directly with such companies as Deutsche Bank, Hoover and Sainsburys. Nathan Joined Memset in 2005 as Sales Manager and since that time has grown our turnover per annum from less than £500k to £4 million and worked with many of our customers such as the BBC, Debenhams, Lush and The Cabinet Office.
