The government has come under fire from angry IT suppliers which have teamed up to speak out against the "failed, flawed" Digital Services Framework (DSF) and "disappointing" G-Cloud. The government frameworks were set up in 2013 and 2012 respectively and sit under its Digital Marketplace umbrella. They were each designed to comply with the government's "digital by default" ambitions and its aims to get more SMBs supplying the public sector with digital and cloud services.

British maternity line Madderson were totally unprepared for the honour and the rush on its website caused it to almost immediately go down.

On 15th January we saw another small British business fall victim to ‘the Kate effect’, when the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in the £450 navy ‘Naomi’ shift dress by Madderson London. British maternity line Madderson were totally unprepared for the honour and the rush on its website caused it to almost immediately go down. As a UK provider of web hosting services I find this incredibly frustrating to hear. There’s no excuse for websites being unable to handle traffic, this is after all what cloud computing is all about, the ability to scale resources up and down based on demand.

Files can be uploaded and downloaded with a simple drag and drop. Batch uploads of files are placed inside a queue manager, where progress of uploads can be viewed. Attributes can be managed with the Get Info button, and configuring data on traditional webservers for distribution with Amazon CloudFront, Memset Memstore, and Akamai can also be performed with a simple interface.

"I hope they get the formula right that allows the smaller companies to sell to buyers who are confident in their services. But the jury is out as to whether or not those changes are going to achieve this," he said. Robin Pape, public sector advisor for SMB supplier Memset said he was optimistic about the key changes to G-Cloud 6. "With the change to the Digital Marketplace from CloudStore- it's early days but we feel it can only help customers find services and that has been one of the big issues with G-Cloud in the past. "It's an evolution - we are on iteration six now and every time it gets better," he said.
