Memset glossary: IP Addresses

An IP address is the way servers on the Internet are addressed. A name, such as "www.memset.com" gets translated into an IP such as "80.175.39.196" which can then be used to route a connection through the Internet. All servers need at least one IP address and some facilities such as SSL hosting and DNS hosting need more than one.

Our Miniservers™ and fully dedicated servers all come with dedicated IP addresses. In order to comply with the RIPE guidelines on IP address allocation we only give each server one address initially, but we will give you up to the number specified upon request at no extra charge.
